Ben Perez – Regional Promotions Manager

Greater Media Detroit’s Regional Promotions Manager Ben Perez truly has a passion for doing all it takes to make Greater Media great each and every day. For the past 16 years, Ben has made it his daily mission to do the best he can, inspiring those around him to shine. With such a passion for his job, it’s hard to believe that radio and promotions were not Ben’s first career path. He came to radio after realizing that he wasn’t going to be a rock ’n’ roll star and went to study at Specs Howard School of Media Arts. His first radio “gig” after school was on-air in Lansing, MI. He then joined the WCSX promotion team, and the rest is history.

Ben shared with us the reason he loves his job: “Each day there is something new and different to take on. You never know what the day will bring. And I have always had the pleasure of having great co-workers and mentors that make the job even better.” Ben also spearheads the Greater Media Detroit internship program that over the past 10 years has seen approximately 630 interns learn what makes radio rock. A teacher at heart, Ben tells his students that to succeed in radio and promotions “you have to be open to everything to be your creative best.”  He also encourages interns to “take courses on promotion and interactive marketing and to always remember that radio is great fun, but it requires a lot of hard work.”

Ben devotes his free time leading a youth group at his church and LOVES spending time with is growing family. A father of four, Ben is a so very proud grandfather of six adorable children whom he adores.

Ben is a proud fan of the Detroit Lions.  He continues to believe that they will come back and be on top. It’s that type of positive attitude that makes Ben such an amazing member of the Greater Media Detroit team. He is definitely a “glass half full” guy.

2013 WRIF Rock Girl Selected Thursday

101 WRIF is looking for the next Rock Girl!  One lucky woman will represent the legendary Detroit rock radio station at concerts, VIP events and on the air.  The winner of the competition will be awarded a $40,000 salary!

The WRIF Final Four Rock Girl contestants were whisked away to the Hotel RIU Palace Pacifico in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for a professional photo shoot with Robert Bruce Photography, courtesy of Apple Vacations and Budweiser.  Photos are available at WRIF.com

101 WRIF will be hosting the 2013 Rock Girl Final Party at the Hard Rock Café Detroit (45 Monroe St Detroit, MI 48226) on Thursday, May 16, 2013.  The WRIF Rock Girl contestants will be on site with their bikini posters and will compete on stage to win and be crowned the 2013 Rock Girl.  Buckcherry will be performing an acoustic set during the Rock Girl competition.  Buckcherry is known for their hit songs, “Sorry”, “Lit Up” and their controversial song, “Crazy Bitch”.  The modern rock band Red will also be performing. Doors are at 5:30 p.m. This event is FREE and open to the public until it reaches capacity.
