Traffic Manager – Greater Media Charlotte 1110-1079

This demanding position oversees revenue through management and scheduling of programming and commercial inventory for both WBT and WLNK.  The ideal candidate must be a critical thinker and problem solver and have the demonstrated ability to manage a diverse workload and work effectively under pressure and deadlines.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for all aspects of and creation for daily broadcast logs.
  • Manage commercial inventory while maximizing revenue.
  • Initiate problem solving and decision making skills to achieve station goals.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data from inventory programs.
  • Format and maintain daily log of syndication network inventory and commercials.
  • Schedule all syndication, network and barter commercial requirements.
  • Complete affidavits for all syndication, network and barter commercials requirements.
  • Complete verification of log(s) to ensure accurate billing.
  • Communicate consistent changes and needs to Sales Management.
  • Work with DOS and PD to build show format/show times and breaks to maximize inventory.
  • Coordinate traffic systems for digital products including web ads (banners) as well as streaming commercials.
  • Communicate with Director of Sales regarding inventory flow to efficiently accommodate advertisers and resolve log discrepancies.
  • Oversee continuity.
  • College graduate preferred, 5 years + experience in work environment.

The Traffic Manager for WBT and WLNK must possess excellent communication skills, the ability to work well with others in a sometimes stressful environment, and display solid judgment when making critical decisions.  Requires excellent work ethic, organization skills and attention to detail.  Time management skills are essential.

Promotions Assistant – WBT 1110/WLNK 107.9 The Link(part time)1110-1079

Greater Media Charlotte promotions department is looking for a sharp and dedicated individual for a part-time position as a Promotions Assistant to work with full-time staff in implementing promotional and marketing activities for WBT and WLNK Radio.

Responsibilities include: office work, organizing, maintaining and fulfilling prizes, interacting with listeners, some contesting and social media aspects, operating and maintaining station event equipment, indoor and outdoor work and some computer work.

The Promotions Assistant is responsible for set-up and tear-down of station events including but not limited to trussing, sound system, lighting and digital electronics.  Position is specifically tied to sales clients that require a full set-up station appearance. The qualified person will be well organized and possess computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.

This position requires an individual who exhibits great interpersonal communication skills, is an enthusiastic and great team player, is interested in physically and mentally demanding projects and enjoys working in a fast paced environment.

  • Requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs and to operate light tools.
  • Availability to work some weekends, evenings and holidays is a must.

Skills in programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and a working knowledge of Final Cut are a plus.

Marketing Department Internship – Graphic Design Focus

Greater Media Charlotte, home to News Talk 1110 AM and 107.9 WLNK is looking for interns for our Graphic Design Internship.  This unpaid internship will work directly with the Marketing Department to create compelling content and graphic presentations for our radio stations.  This is an excellent internship for a student majoring in graphic design or journalism, public relations and marketing.  If you have an eye for design, have excellent verbal/written communication skills and want the chance to create engaging graphics, we want to talk with you! Interns will gain hands on experience in the “art of branding” through creating, editing and presenting custom graphics for web and social media sites.  The Graphics Design intern will be given assignments that are designed to help them understand the importance of graphics design in the promotion of two successful radio stations. Some of the responsibilities could include:

  • Assist with social media projects designed to drive listener engagement
  • Support other marketing personnel to ensure brand continuity
  • Research project content online and in face to face interviews
  • Assist with the maintenance of the design sections of the WBT and WLNK websites

Requirements for this internship include experience with PC and MAC computers and experience with graphic design software such as Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat and others.  Must have understanding of how to design for and use social media tools including Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare.  At the conclusion of the internship, the student will have gained experience in developing and coordinating integrated station programs for programming and sales.  In addition, the student will take away an enhanced professional portfolio and resume.   • Students MUST be at least 18 years old and enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school
  • Students MUST receive course credit for participation in the internship

Production Interns

Our talk format provides a rich culture for experiencing the planning and execution of daily radio programming and yields a well-rounded, hands-on experience.  Our Interns learn every aspect of running two highly successful radio stations including

  • Show Production – what it takes to air a daily live radio show
  • News – what goes into delivering up to the minute local and national news
  • Marketing and Promotion – how to engage listeners via on-air promos and local events
  • Interactive – how to drive listeners to our websites and social media platforms

Depending on the internship, Intern could assist the on-air talent, show producers, news reporters and marketing staff in various projects including updating the show’s website, researching and contacting potential guests; creating dynamic website graphics and executing promotional events.  Interns are desired for the following shows and departments:
