The Philadelphia area’s excitement for Billy Joel is at an all-time high as a result of the revered ‘Piano Man’ announcing his return to Citizen’s Bank Park on July 9 as well as the largest standalone pops orchestra in the United States, The Philly POPS, dedicating three days to scintillating performances of THE MUSIC OF BILLY JOEL in The Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall from March 4 through March 6, 2016.

Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK-FM is teaming up with the Philly POPS to give a local performer the chance to dazzle adoring Billy Joel fans at The Kimmel Center on Friday March 4, prior to the Philly POPS performance.

Interested participants can submit a video clip of their performance of  a Billy Joel song via the contest page on the station’s website (www.wmgk.com) or via the station’s Facebook page.  All Facebook entries must include the hashtag #MGKBigShot.

At the end of the submission period, WMGK and Philly POPS staffers will narrow down the entries to five finalists, all of whom will receive a pair of tickets to see The Philly POPS.  WMGK listeners will then have the opportunity to go to a voting page at wmgk.com to vote for their favorite performer.  At the end of the voting period, the winning contestant will be determined by a combination of who receives the most votes and scoring by the judging panel.

The winning contestant will receive 10 tickets to The Philly POPS March 4 concert, free dinner for two, the chance to have a portion of their performance played on WMGK and the thrill of performing in front of Billy Joel fans in a packed Kimmel Center lobby and during WMGK’s pre-performance party.

Philly POPS presents:  THE MUSIC OF BILLY JOEL takes place at The Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall from March 4 through March 6, 2016. Tickets are on sale now at KimmelCenter.org. The Philly POPS present the magical music of Billy Joel. The POPS are thrilled to welcome guest vocalist Michael Cavanaugh, the charismatic performer, musician, and actor who was handpicked by Mr. Joel to play the lead in the Broadway musical Movin’ Out, as they cover heartwarming Billy Joel favorites and chart-topping hits by artists who influenced him.
