October 1, 2015
MAGIC 98.3 FM once again teamed up with the Embrace Kids Foundation’s 8th annual Embrace Kids Radiothon earlier this year on April 11 and April 12 in conjunction with the Rutgers University Dance Marathonat the College Avenue Gym, New Brunswick, NJ, all to benefit kids with cancer and blood disorders.
Embrace Kids Foundation offers comprehensive support to families, including financial assistance, an education program, counseling and holiday events for the children, along with unique programs and services that deliver a thorough and compassionate method of bringing care to families when they need it most—when their children have catastrophic illness.
MAGIC 98.3 FM was on-site with a live broadcast both days from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturday, it was Magic Morning Show Host Chris McCoy, along with APD/MD & Midday Host Debbie Mazella, and on Sunday, it was Program Director/Afternoon Drive Personality Jeff Rafter, along with Night Host John Lisk from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both days were filled with interviews of families that have been helped by Embrace Kids. The grand total raised was more than $692,000.
MAGIC 98.3 FM’s Embrace Kids Radiothon has been part of the Rutgers University Dance Marathon for eight years. Despite a difficult economy, the donations to help children and families in the community have increased each year.
“This is a signature event for WMGQ. It ties us to the community on all levels by exposing the radio station to Rutgers students and alumni while benefiting a local nonprofit organization and satisfying our broadcast sponsor,” said WCTC-AM and WMGQ-FM Station Manager Dan Henrickson.
