Greater Media Newspapers Takes Home NJPA Awards

Greater Media staff members captured 12 awards in the annual Better Newspaper Contest. Reporters Adam Uzialko, Jeremy Grossman, Executive Editor Donna Kenyon and Managing Editor Jessica D’Amico attended the event at the Hamilton Manor on April 23. RICHARD MCCLELLAN Members of Greater Media Newspapers’ editorial and photography staffs received a dozen awards during the New Jersey Press Association’s annual awards night.

The dinner was held April 23 at the Hamilton Manor. Winners of the NJPA 2014 Better Newspaper Contest were announced Feb. 10.

Greater Media Newspapers Staff Photographer Eric Sucar won three first-place awards and two second-place awards.

Managing Editor Jessica D’Amico won first place in the Business and Economic Writing category for a story on an uptick in the real estate market, as well as second place in Special Subject Writing for a story on domestic violence.

Reporter Adam Uzialko won second place in Coverage of Crime, Police, Courts for a series of stories about home invasions in central New Jersey.

Reporter Kenny Walter took third place in the Responsible Journalism – Enterprise category for a story on taxpayers sharing the burden.

Reporter Taylor Lier won third place in a Reporting, Writing & Illustration – Feature Writing category for a story about women building homes for families.

Former Greater Media reporter Jack Murtha took first place in the Responsible Journalism – Enterprise category for a series on people with autism.
