Rockin’ Wars strum up local talent
April 28, 2015
Grab your guitar and drum sticks! 94.7 WCSX’s Rockin’ Wars return Monday, April 27. For a second year, local rock bands from across the Motor City are invited to battle it out for a chance to open concerts during the tenth annual General Motors Rockin’ on the Riverfront concert series this summer.
“Over the years, Detroiters have shown an outpouring of support for the Rockin’ on the Riverfront concert series,” said Jerry Tarrants, program director at WCSX. “With the Rockin’ Wars contest, we’re able to give our listeners another way to participate in the tenth anniversary celebration, as well as help shape the shows they’ve always supported.”
Monday, April 27 through Thursday, May 14, local bands may fill out an online entry form and upload a video of a recent performance to the WCSX website. 32 bands will be selected to compete through three, weeklong rounds of listener-based voting, and narrowed down to the best eight bands entered. The top five contenders will be selected by a team of WCSX judges to open for Rockin’ on the Riverfront headliners and announced on Friday, June 12.
Public voting periods are:
- Round 1 (32 bands): Friday, May 15 to Thursday, May 28
- Round 2 (16 bands): Friday, May 29 to Thursday, June 4
- Round 3 (8 bands): Friday, June 5 to Friday, June 12
Listeners may cast one ballot per voting period and must be a member of the WCSX Workforce. To join the free club and view the official Rockin’ Wars contest rules, visit www.wcsx.com.
