January 14, 2015
Greater Media announces 105.7 WROR-FM’s Christmas CD, entitled The World’s Greatest Christmas Album, raised $15,000 to benefit Christmas in the City, a non-profit organization which helps homeless families in Boston.
The World’s Greatest Christmas Album is a collection of all the best holiday songs and bits from the legendary Loren & Wally morning show on WROR-FM. The station printed 5,000 copies of the CD, which went on sale in stores and online beginning on November 13th, 2014.
Sponsors of the project included the Walmart Foundation, Horizon Interiors, Kappy’s Liquors and Gordon’s Liquors. One dollar from every CD benefited Christmas in the City. In addition, WROR-FM also received an addition $5,000 in donations from Walmart and Horizon Interiors, bringing the total amount of money raised to $15,000.
“It was an honor to work with such a great organization like Christmas In The City,” said Matt DiRoberto, general sales manager of WROR-FM. “They have been friends of the Loren & Wally show and 105.7 WROR for years, so it’s nice to be able to give back to them with the money raised from the CD.”
“It’s was a thrill to be able to help Christmas in the City and support all they do to make the holiday so special for the kids and their families,” said WROR-FM Morning Show Co-Host Wally Brine.
Christmas in the City strives to ameliorate the impact of being homeless on families and children living in shelters towards a goal of eliminating homelessness. “Through the generosity of thousands of individuals and companies, each child actually receives one of the gifts he or she requested,” said Co-Founder Jake Kennedy. The organization accomplishes this goal with 100% volunteers. There is no paid staff.
