Greater Media radio station the WRAT (95.9)  held its annual Thanksgiving season drive Broadcast to benefit the People of New Jersey on November 24 and 25, 2014 to help local New Jersey people. Employees of the WRAT filled a 40-foot tractor trailer with items that were then donated to three charities.

The WRAT’s live Broadcast for the People of New Jersey took place at Shoprite, Route 66, Neptune, on both November 24 from 6:00 a.m. to midnight, and again November 25 from 6:00 a.m. until the trailer is full.

Non-perishable food items that were donated went to the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean counties; new or gently used clothing were donated to the Family Resource Associates; and toiletries (soap, tooth brushes, tooth paste) were given to Holiday Express.

Doug Sjonvall, promotions director for the WRAT, said, “This is our 18th truck that we are looking to fill. Year after year our listeners have never let us down and I have full confidence that they will once again answer the call. It’s very heartwarming to experience peoples generosity and willingness to help their neighbors.”
