Charlotte’s WBT Serves Up PB&J
November 13, 2014
For the third consecutive year, John Hancock, who can be heard 3-6 PM on News Talk WBT 1110 AM/99.3 FM, teamed up with Harris Teeter and Jif for the Peanut Butter N’ July campaign to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, based in Charlotte, NC.
High in protein, peanut butter is one of the most valuable commodities for a food bank and one of the items most requested by those who benefit from their services. This past summer, WBT AM/FM launched a campaign to bring attention to the importance of this product.
Beginning July 1, the station placed donation bins at 37 participating Harris Teeter grocery stores throughout Mecklenburg County and around the Charlotte area. Listeners were encouraged to stop by to donate a plastic jar of peanut butter.
Each Saturday during July, John Hancock was on hand at one of the participating stores, helping to collect peanut butter and spreading the word about the cause.
