Every year in March, WBT AM/FM Host John Hancock has a special broadcast celebrating Father’s Day.

It’s not the traditional holiday in June, but one sparked by the passing of his father, where listeners call in honoring and remembering their fathers.

For nearly 20 years, on or around March 16, Hancock opens the phones and listeners share their stories.

For the second year, the weekend of the broadcast, WBT AM/FM held John Hancock’s Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast, a morning filled with fathers and their sons, daughters and family, with the proceeds to benefit the Charlotte Men’s Shelter.

Listeners enjoyed pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice for their donation. Hosted at a local church and staffed by area Boy Scouts, the breakfast raised more than $2,000 and provided the shelter with 10 brand-new pairs of work boots.  Listeners not only enjoyed the company of the WBT AM/FM hosts but also that of Carolina Panthers Head Coach Ron Rivera.
