On Monday, April 7, 2014 at McFadden’s at Citizen’s Bank Park, 102.9 WMGK-FM’s John DeBella (weekdays 6am to 9am), will preside over a ceremony in which three religious figures from the tri-state will bless the baseballs that the Phillies will use during their “Home Opener” game later that day.  It’s John DeBella’s 8th Annual Blessing Of The Balls. Pastor Jeff Raffauf, of West Lawn United Methodist Church; Father Joe Campellone, President of Father Judge High School; and Rabbi Gregory Marx, of Congregation Beth Or will be performing 3 separate blessings.  In 2008, when DeBella had these three religious figures bless the ‘Home Opener’ baseballs, the team went on to win a World Championship later that year. DeBella is hoping for a similar result from this year’s “Blessing Of The Balls”.
The John DeBella Show’s live broadcast will begin at 6am and the blessing will take place at 8:30am.  Attendees at the broadcast will have the chance to win a free pair of tickets to that day’s ‘Home Opener’ as well as other WMGK prizes.  In addition to the Pastor, Father and Rabbi, Phillies public address announcer Dan Baker will join The John DeBella Show on-site at McFadden’s that morning.  Additional on-site guests may be added.  Jayson Stark, senior baseball writer for ESPN.com, will also appear on the show as a call-in guest.

Later in the day, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm, 102.9 WMGK-FM will host a tailgate party on the front lawn of the Holiday Inn Stadium (10th and Packer Ave). There will be plenty of games and free giveaways.
