Trudi Jim Stamp 2014

94.7 WCSX morning show, Trudi and Jim, and The U.S. Postal Service unveiled the new Jimi Hendrix stam

p at The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music on Washington Avenue in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Guitarists brought their electric guitars and amps for a unison tribute performance of The Star Spangled Banner just prior to the unveiling. Just like Hendrix did in 1969, when he headlined Woodstock and performed a featured rendition of the U.S. National Anthem. The anthem was led by SRC’s guitarist Gary Quackenbush.

The limited-edition Forever stamp is now available at your local U.S. Postal Office.  The stamp comes out decades after the musician died in 1970, when a stamp cost just 6 cents. Today a stamp costs .49 cents.
