WMGK-FM Computer Drive

April 25, 2013

Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK-FM on-air personalities asked listeners to bring their old computers, printers, monitors, scanners, cell phones and other computer equipment to either of the station’s two collection locations on February 2.

One collection location was located in the parking lot of the King of Prussia Mall in Prussia, PA; another was in the parking lot of the Deptford Mall in Deptford, NJ. The WMGK-FM DJs loaded listeners’ computer equipment into 53-foot trucks parked on the premises. The DJs were assisted by the station’s event partners, Harmonious Volunteers Center and Magnum Computer Recycling.

The amount of computer-related equipment donated during last year’s first WMGK-FM Computer Drive filled two 53-foot trucks and weighed more than 50,000 pounds.

All of the equipment donated was either refurbished and donated to local organizations and families in need by Harmonious Volunteers Center or properly recycled in accordance with state and federal guidelines by Magnum Computer Recycling, a R2 certified recycler.

In addition, NFI Industries donated the trucks and drivers used to collect the computers.
