From the Corner Office: December 2012

Reflections from 2012
The year-end holidays always provide the perfect opportunity to look back at our accomplishments of the preceding twelve months, as well as a time to set our goals for the coming year.
Let me just say that the victories of Greater Media are due to the hard and dedicated work of the men and women on our staffs who have devoted themselves to creating and selling our brands. With their creativity and determination during 2012, the company continues to enjoy good revenue growth. Upon that foundation, we have been able to maintain a healthy capital structure for our company. Even with the uncertainty of the looming national “fiscal cliff” and the challenges in the global markets, Greater Media remains well positioned and strong going into 2013.
However, 2012 did not come without its challenges. The recent tragic events of Hurricane Sandy had a direct impact on our employees in New Jersey. Their selfless dedication to the communities they serve was evident as they remained on the air and at work, despite the challenges they personally faced at home. Words cannot begin to describe our gratitude to these outstanding individuals. In addition, our employees in our other markets also pitched in, as we launched an internal Greater Good We Take Care of Our Own initiative for the employees affected by the storm. In the end, this effort raised over $37,000 in cash and goods for our fellow employees.
In our local markets, we have been a live and local presence with personalities that matter to our listeners. Our music and information formats are fine-tuned by programming staffs that include some of the best in the business.
Our sales teams in every market have worked tirelessly to achieve and overachieve. No one knows better than I that it takes more determination and innovation today to accomplish what we once took for granted. Our sellers are part of the ongoing effort to maintain and expand radio’s voice and vibrancy in the ad community. Through integrated selling of all of our assets, broadcast, in-person and online, we can now create more complete and effective solutions for our advertisers. We are looking forward to becoming even more consultative and effective in our advertiser relationships.
For all of these accomplishments and more, I give thanks to the members of our company. But these milestones went well beyond just business in each of our markets. Our Greater Good Campaign, which involves our employees personally volunteering to help various non-profit organizations over the course of the year, continues to make a direct and lasting impact on the people and the communities we serve.
These are the types of outstanding characteristics that make Greater Media greater on a daily basis. I thank each and every one of our employees for all that they do. Their dedication and giving spirit, not only at the holidays but year-round, are making a real difference where it matters most.
On behalf of my family and the Greater Media family, I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2013.
