WMMR’s Marisa Magnatta Dances for Charity

October 9, 2012

Marisa Magnatta, Associate Producer of The Preston and Steve Show was chosen to be one of the nine contestants in the 4th Annual ‘Dancing with the Philadelphia Stars’ – a charity event benefiting the Sickle Cell Disease Association. Among her competitors were TV personalities from CBS & Telemundo, a Councilwoman and the editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Marisa chose to learn the fast paced, swing-based, Lindy Hop for the event. For weeks she practiced the routine which was choreographed by her partner, Jesse Smith-Dow of Society Hill Dance Academy to the song “Rock This Town” by Stray Cats. This past April 22nd Marisa showed off her new Lindy skills (which included a split and back flip) to a crowd of hundreds at the main event.

The loudest group in the audience were her friends and family – she strategically left air horns and whistles at their table! Although Marisa did not win the event, she had a great time and helped to raise a lot of money for the foundation. She still receives messages saying she was robbed of the title.
