Ford CEO Thanks WCSX

July 10, 2012

In January, 94.7 WCSX unveiled the frame of a 1969 Ford Mustang at Autorama and announced it was the next Stone Soup Project™ that will benefit Chrildren’s Miracle Network at Beaumont’s Children’s Hosptial. For the past several months, local businesses have pitched in to help build the car from scratch.  We are weeks away from having it ready to hit the streets at the Birmingham Cruise on August 18th, 2012.

On July 5th, 2012, Morning Show Host, Ken Calvert and Morning Show Producer, Jim O’Brien received nice words of encouragement from Ford Motor Company President & CEO, Alan Mulally.

Jim and Ken,
Love the Mustang Boss 5.0, and your work to support Children’s Miracle Network at Beaumont Hospital!  Thank you to you and all your listeners for the great work you are doing to serve the community.
I know that whichever wheels your listeners choose will look fantastic!
WCSX & Ford Rock!!
Alan

O’Brien, posted on the WCSX website, “THIS is why we brought back the Stone Soup Project — almost $50,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network with two months left to sell $10 raffle tickets. And YOU’RE making this possible! On behalf of everyone at ‘CSX, thanks for the continued support…can’t wait to see the smile on your face (and the kids) when we finish.”

“The Stone Soup Boss 5.0 is more than a 575 horsepower Mustang – it’s more than a one of a kind car – it’s what we do in the Motor City. Thank you to the hundreds of people who worked on this car and the fine businesses who’ve donated time and money to make this a reality for the Children’s Miracle Network at Beaumont’s Children’s Hospital,” O’Brien stated.

Childrens Miracle Network will benefit from the proceeds of the Stone Soup Project™ and will be at WCSX events thoughtout the summer selling raffle tickets. Raffle tickets are $10 each.  You can also purchase them on-line at www.WCSX.com.

About Stone Soup

94.7 WCSX’s Stone Soup Project™ was inspired by the old stone soup fable wherein everyone throws something in the pot to make a great meal.  The WCSX Stone Soup Project™ harnesses the generosity and ingenuity of WCSX listeners from around the Detroit area to rebuild a classic car from the ground up in order to raise money for a local charity. Over the years, 94.7 WCSX raised in excess of $1 million dollars for charities in Detroit.

About Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at Beaumont Children’s Hospital

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada, which, in turn, use the money where it’s needed the most. When a donation is given it stays in the community, ensuring that every dollar is helping local kids. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $4 billion, most of it $1 at a time. These donations have gone to support research and training, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care, all in support of our mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
