Smyth to Speak at BC’s Carroll School Graduate Commencement

Peter SmythGreater Media Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Peter Smyth will address 555 graduates at the 2012 Boston College Carroll School of Management Graduate Programs commencement ceremonies taking place on Monday, May 21st at the Bapst Library Lawn.

“Peter Smyth is a nationally recognized leader in broadcasting and media,” said Carroll School Associate Dean for Graduate Programs Jeffrey L. Ringuest. “He is a philanthropist and a wonderful community citizen. We are delighted to have him address our graduates.

ABC journalist Bob Woodruff will address the university’s 4,400 new graduates at commencement ceremonies that morning in Alumni Stadium. At noon, Smyth will address students earning their MBAs and other graduate degrees from BC’s Carroll School of Management.

The Carroll School of Management will present graduate degrees to approximately 555 students, awarding 300 MBAs, 250 Master of Science degrees in the areas of finance, accounting and organizational studies, and five doctoral degrees in finance and organizational studies.

Joining Smyth on the speaking program will be MBA student J.P. Nuzzo, the president of the Graduate Management Association, who will address his fellow graduates. Dr. Matthew F. McManus, MBA ’92, the president and CEO of PrimeraDx, will receive the Carroll School’s Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award and Professor of Marketing Gerald Smith will receive the Distinguished Teacher Award.
