WMGK’s Debella Helps Send Blessings to Phillies

April 6, 2012

Monday April 9 at 8:30a, 102.9 MGK’s John DeBella will preside over a ceremony led by three religious figures from the tri-state area that involves blessing the baseballs that the Phillies will be using during their “Home Opener” later that day game at Citizen’s Bank Park. It’s John DeBella’s Annual Blessing Of The Balls. These religious figures were the same people that blessed the balls on Opening Day in 2008. The Phillies went on to win a World Championship later that year. DeBella is hoping for a similar result from this year’s “Blessing Of The Balls”.

The live broadcast will begin at 6am. The first 50 people in the door will receive a free ‘MGK/McFadden’s Home Opener t-shirt’. Pastor Jeff Raffauf, of West Lawn United Methodist Church; Father Joe Campellone, President of Father Judge High School; and Rabbi Gregory Marx, of Congregation Beth Or will be doing 3 separate blessings. The following guests will join DeBella that morning:
- ESPN.com’s baseball aficionado, Jayson Stark
- Phillies legend, Greg “The Bull” Luzinski
- Phillies broadcaster, Tom McCarthy
- Musicians Bill Miller and Mario Gallo will perform their song “Let’s Go Eat!”

Later in the day, from 10am to 12:30pm, 102.9 WMGK night time DJ, Ray Koob, is hosting a HUGE tailgate party on the back lawn of the Stadium Holiday Inn (10th and Packer Ave). ODP will play live, there will be free food, Home Opener T-shirt giveaways and much more.
