WROR Listener Scores $25,000

March 20, 2012

It is a beautiful day in William Donovan’s neighborhood after the Bridgewater, Massachusetts man learned he won $25,000 in last night’s inaugural drawing for the multi-state lottery game “Lucky for Life” playing a number combination he heard earlier in the day on 105.7 WROR’s Loren & Wally Morning Show.

The radio skit featured a Mr. Rogers impersonator telling the Loren & Wally crew about his recent lottery win and all of the exciting things he was doing with his newfound, but yet-to-be-claimed, riches — including telling the higher ups at the network exactly what he thought of them. After “Mr. Rogers” reads the winning numbers from his ticket aloud: “1-2-6-10-19 and 27,” Loren and Wally inform him that the last number on the winning ticket was actually 28.

“Mr. Rogers’” experience didn’t deter Donovan, a truck-driving grandfather of 10, from trying his luck with those numbers in the Lottery’s new Lucky for Life game. He visited Patriots Pub in East Bridgewater and played 1-2-6-10-19, but when it came to selecting the Lucky Ball number both 27 and 28 were too high in the field of numbers to choose from, so he went with 21. Donovan was shocked to learn that just like in the radio skit, he missed the game’s top prize by just one number – the Lucky Ball drawn last night was 15.

When asked what he planned to do with his winnings, Donovan jokingly replied, “I’m going to party with everyone but Joe.” And for those who may be wondering, Joe knows why.

Massachusetts players fared very well in Lucky for Life’s, the first lottery game to be played exclusively in all six New England states, inaugural drawing. In addition to Donovan’s win, a ticket sold at Myette’s Country Store in Hanover, won the game’s $1,000 a day for life top prize, and a ticket sold at Shaw’s Supermarket in Canton also won $25,000.

Lucky for Life tickets are $2 each and can be purchased at Lottery retailers in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

Drawings are held every Monday and Thursday at 10:38 pm in Connecticut and aired live on FOX CT/Channel 61 in Hartford with game results and drawing videos posted for Massachusetts players on the Lottery’s website – www.masslottery.com.
