DeMuro is WBT’s Next Talker
February 10, 2012
When WBT started its Next Talker contest, they got more than they bargained for, a lot of great local talent! Round 1 started with all talker entries to be submitted online at WBT.com, where they featured a 90 second video of themselves, and sold WBT Listeners to why they deserved to be WBT’s Next Talker. WBT had 104 video entries, where listeners could go online, watch the video, and then vote on who they would like to hear on WBT Radio. After Round 1 voting, Next Talker entries were narrowed down to the Top 10 qualifiers, who then auditioned on The John Hancock Program to show their “radio stuff” on-air.
Round 2 voting narrowed it down to the voices of Johnny Bitter, Ben Howe, Bobby DeMuro, Ladd Lesh, and Michael Chapman. The Top 2 Finalists, Bobby DeMuro and Ben Howe, alternated in WBT’s Sunday Slot, for the final face off!
On Friday, February 3rd, 2012, WBT announced on The John Hancock Show that Bobby DeMuro was the winner of WBT’s Next Talker Contest! Bobby DeMuro, originally from Denver, Colorado, lives in Cornelius, North Carolina. He is a journalist, as well as a non-profit director and graduate student. He is a former professional baseball player and enjoys sports, exercise, and academic research.
