WCSX Stone Soup Project is Back
January 23, 2012
94.7 WCSX is proud to announce the return of the WCSX Stone Soup Project™. It’s been 3 years since they built their last car and they are excited to bring the program back!
WCSX’s Stone Soup Project™ was inspired by the old stone soup fable wherein everyone throws something in the pot to make a great meal. The WCSX Stone Soup Project™ harnesses the generosity and ingenuity of WCSX listeners from around the Detroit area to rebuild a classic car from the ground up in order to raise money for a local charity. Over the years, 94.7 WCSX raised in excess of $1 million dollars for charities in Detroit.
94.7 WCSX has begun the search for just the right car for this year’s project. Area listeners and car enthustists are encouraged to follow in the footsteps of generous listeners like Tom DeLage of Dearborn who donated his ’67 Mustang in 2003 and Walt Wheeler of Oxford who donated his ’70 Road Runner in 2004 to get the project rolling. 94.7 WCSX is also looking for local business who will donate their time to build this car. Roush has already stepped up and donated at Roush 5.0RSC motor, over a $15,000 value. If you have a car you would like to donate, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
94.7 WCSX will host an unveiling of this year’s classic car renovation at the 2012 Autorama on February 24th. This year, Childrens Miracle Network will benefit from the proceeds of the Stone Soup Project™ and will be on-site selling raffle tickets.
Everyone is invited to follow the progress of the project by attending any of the WCSX Stone Soup Project™ meetings, or visiting the WCSX web site at www.wcsx.com .
