WRIF Launches ‘Vote For Howard’ Campaign
December 5, 2011
With the recent release of the NHL All Star Ballot, 101 WRIF and Afternoon Drive Host, Meltdown, have decided that the NHL has made a mistake on the ballot. Based on his performance this season, Red Wing Goaltender Jimmy Howard belongs on the ballot for a shot to be an All Star in the upcoming game. 101 WRIF, with Meltdown leading the campaign, will launch a “Vote for Howard” Write In Campaign to get Howard into one of the six Goaltending spots available in the All Star Game.
Starting Tuesday, Dec 6th Meltdown will be leaving the studio and hitting the road in a decaled 101 WRIF – VOTE FOR HOWARD RV to get Detroiters to write Jimmy Howard’s name on the ballot. He will be broadcasting live from local bars, restaurants and parking lots around Metro Detroit. On-site Meltdown will have voting stations set up with laptops, where voters can log onto NHL.com and write in Jimmy Howard’s name on the All Star Ballot. For everyone who casts a vote will get an “I Voted for Howard” sticker to show their commitment to the cause and they will also be entered into a drawing to win tickets to upcoming Red Wing games as well as autographed merchandise from Jimmy Howard. Meltdown has vowed to not go back to the studio until he receives enough votes to get Howard into the running for the All Star Game.
