WBT’s Sonier Named ‘Murrow’ Winner

WBT AM/FM’s Jeff Sonier Named Among 2011 National Edward R. Murrow Award Winners
WBT AM/FM has been named the recipient of the 2011 National Murrow award in the “Audio Investigative Reporting” category for the Radio: Large Market Division.
Unveiled by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTNDA), the awards honor excellence in electronic journalism. WBT AM/FM was honored for a news series on ‘State Airplanes’ written and produced by Jeff Sonier.
“Congratulations to the WBT Radio News department and veteran reporter Jeff Sonier on receiving this distinguished award for excellence,” said News Director Jim Barroll. ” It would not have been possible were it not for the commitments of time and energy put in by all members of our news staff and for the professionalism and dedication to quality that are hallmarks of WBT Radio.”
The station was the exclusive winner in the Carolinas in any category, including radio, television or online. The awards will be given out on October 10th in New York City.
