WRIF Harleyfesy Rides in to 13th Year

June 13, 2011

101 WRIF is proud to announce the 13th Annual Motor City Harley Davidson® Harley Fest, happening Saturday, June 18th at Northville Community Park located in Northville Township at 5 Mile and Beck Road.

Harley Fest is an annual day-long event that brings together Harley-Davidson® motorcycle enthusiasts from throughout the state of Michigan to celebrate great music, food and motorcycles! Both bikers and non-bikers are always welcome to attend!

Admission to the festival at Northville Community Park is free and will feature live music from some of Detroit’s favorite local bands including Under the Covers & Hinds Drive! In addition, there will be several tribute bands rockin’ out the stage, including Lookin’ Back (Bob Seger), The Nightmare (Alice Cooper), Panama (Van Halen) and Stranglehold (Ted Nugent). Bikers can show off their bikes in the “Best in Bike” contest. There will be helicopter rides, a vendor village featuring everything from clothes and jewelry to airbrush artists, plus lots of delicious food and drink, a day-long live broadcast by WRIF and so much more!

A new feature to this year’s event is the Man Card Village. Men and women can get an official Man Card (WoMan Card) inside the village. This card will give them access to exclusive manly games that include a High Striker, dunk tank, mechanical bull, motor cycle simulator, Marines pull challenge and a beer tournament where you could win an Apple Vacation and Tigers tickets. Gates will officially open at 11am to the park and there is a $10 fee for parking.

In addition to the festival, there is an annual ride on the morning of the event, which will depart from Motor City Harley-Davidson®, located at 34900 Grand River Avenue in Farmington Hills, taking a scenic route to the event at Northville Community Park. Sign-up for the ride will begin at 9am. Riders are asked to pay $20 per bike to participate in the ride, which provides them with a special Muscular Dystrophy Association of Michigan (MDA) collector’s pin, parking fees for Harley Fest and a donation to The MDA. The funds collected from the 2011 Harley Fest will be used to help over 1,800 children and adults in the Metro Detroit area affected by Muscular Dystrophy. MDA is the nonprofit health agency seeking treatments and cures for more than 40 neuromuscular diseases, including muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) and Friedreich’s ataxia (FA). For more information on the ride call Motor City Harley-Davidson® at (248) 473-7433.

One of the highlights of the annual event is the big Harley Fest Grand Prize Giveaway. Contestants will turn their keys at Harley Fest at 3 p.m. Immediately following the Harley giveaway; WRIF will host the first annual Miss Harley Fest competition.
