Top Chefs Join WMGK’s DeBella

Cescaphe Event Group’s Chef Justin Weathers took the “Golden Spoon Award” at the 4th Annual John DeBella Comfort Food Fest for his interpretation of comfort food .

400 invited guests enjoyed comfort food dishes prepared by ten of the top chefs in the Philadelphia area at last night’s 4th Annual John DeBella Comfort Food Festival at Cescaphe’ Ballroom. Chef Justin Weathers of Cescaphe Event Group (Locations include: Cescaphe Ballroom, Cescaphe Curtis Center, Cescaphe Tendenza) won the coveted Golden Spoon Award, given to the chef whose interpretation of comfort food scored highest on the judges’ scorecards. Weather’s Philadelphia Pulled Pork Sliders with provolone sauce and broccoli rabe slaw were a hit with the attendees and on the judge’s score cards. This year’s judging panel featured: The Inquirer’s Michael Klein; Beth D’Addono, food critic for The Daily News and Where Magazine and NBC10′s LuAnn Cahn.

The champion of the Comfort Food Fest for the past two years was Robert Legget. Legget was then chef at Cuba Libre. This year, he represented his new home, Rembradnt’s, and fared extremely well on the judges score cards.
