102.9 MGK Teams Up With Flyers For DeBella Turkey Drop
November 9, 2010
102.9 MGK is proud to announce that, for the 3rd year in a row, the Philadelphia Flyers will be helping the station raise turkey donations for this year’s 9th Annual John DeBella Turkey Drop. This and every year, the ”Turkey Drop” benefits CityTeam Ministries Philadelphia, an organization that provides food and services to less fortunate individuals, families, shelters and food groups in the tri-state area.
During intermission, John DeBella and a turkey will thank the crowd for their donations. “The Flyers and their fans have been extremely generous to us the last year few years. We’re thrilled to have their passionate support again this year,” said DeBella.
Times are extremely tough for the organizations that provide food for the less fortunate in the Philadelphia area due to the lack of demand. Food assistance in the Delaware valley has increased over 22% over the past year and more than 80% of agencies saw an increase in new clients. One in four Philadelphians live below the poverty line. Seven of ten children in Philadelphia live below the poverty line.
On November 23 from 6am to 9am, John DeBella will broadcast live from Love Park while accepting monetary and turkey donations for CityTeam Ministries. In addition to Love Park, members of the MGK on-air staff will be spread around the tri-state area accepting donations at 6 Genuardi’s supermarket locations from 6am to 10am. Genuardi’s locations can be found at www.wmgk.com.
The following will be accepted at all donation locations: frozen turkeys, “free turkey” coupons, cash donations, checks made out to CityTeam Ministries. No food other than turkeys can be accepted. Interested listeners can make a secure online donation by going to the station’s website, www.wmgk.com.
