MGK Morning man, John DeBella (weekdays 6a-9a on 102.9 WMGK) will host the 8th Annual DeBella Dog Walk, the biggest outdoor “dog fair” of it’s kind, on Sunday May 2 from 11am to 3pm at picturesque Green Lane Park in Montgomery County. The Dog Walk is a FREE, outdoor gathering for people and their dogs, those looking to adopt, and those seeking information about particular breeds. Its aim is to teach people how to be better pet owners and to educate the public about the work that non-profit rescue groups and shelters do.
This year’s event will feature a dog caricature artist, a dog agility demonstration, Police K9 unit demonstration and will host approximately thirty area rescue groups/shelters. There will also be numerous activities for dogs to take part in such as: the chance to take a photo inside the “Dogs Playing Poker” painting, obedience exercises where owners can earn certificates for their dogs and more. In addition, there will be plenty of information available on dog health, training and boarding, new pet products, and pet IDs. Food vendors will satisfy the cravings of the two legged attendees and there will be plenty of nutritious treats for those on four legs.
Last year’s event attracted thousands to Green Lane Park. The station is anticipating a similar turn out this year. Green Lane Park boasts ample parking within short walking distance of this year’s events, acres of land to accommodate this year’s activities and prior experience in hosting dog events. More information on the event can be found at the station’s website, wmgk.com.
John DeBella’s dedication to animals can be seen on a weekly basis when he hosts the Debella’s Dogs segment (every Thursday) on NBC 10’s 10! Show. In February 2008 DeBella was honored with an award at the Morris Animal Refuge’s 11th annual Fur Ball Fundraiser at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel.
